Dolly Parton is broken hearted over the news of Whitney Houston's death.  She said in a written statement...

...to TheBoot.com, "Mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston.  I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say, from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you.  You will be missed.'"

Whitney was, reportedly, found in the bathtub of her hotel bathroom Saturday with her face underwater.  Friends say she had been happy all day and looking forward to her performance at Clive Davis' Grammy Party that evening.  Click here  (and see video below) for complete coverage of the passing of the former queen of pop.

R.I.P Whitney, the Greatest Voice ever heard.
We will always love YOU.

yes, totally agredd...we wil always love you whitney!!!

The drugs she used suppressed the respiratory system to the point of stopping her breathing - she must have had a mix - often under the influence of one drug, a person can forget they've taken them and take more ... end of story.

Prescription drugs are a gentle death. One just fades out. Why do you think it's the method of choice for most people. I'm not saying Whitney did this - just that she took too many - maybe her heart gave out or maybe she just went to sleep. I can't imagine how her daughter feels now. This is something you don't get over.

When you play with fire you get burned. It is sad that she is gone, but no one forced her to take drugs etc. A warning for others who are in the same situation. Beware, Beware.

MY GOD BE WITH YOU I WELL TRULY MISS YOU LOVE ADAM

It has become a very obvious fact that prescription drugs and alcohol can be every bit as lethal as cyanide, or a gun. The fact you are a celebrity, a person of privilege, fame or any other form of public recognicense makes no difference. Dead is dead. It is no different than playing Russian Roulette. Whitney Houston, the world will miss you and your magnificant gift of voice and song. God bless you.

we the fans are totally not to blame. She made millions, she was a Christian and walked AWAY from the Lord, as many of us do. No one was to blame, like Howard Jones says in his song, but her. It did not help that she picked a loser for a husband, but apparently she must have grown up with abuse, in order to be addicted to an abusive man like that. I think she was great, but that she and many others should not be idolized as it goes to their head, like god-status, and this is unforturnately the outcome. this is only in response to the first person who said, we the fans are to blame along with her managers. you truly are an idiot.

This is such horrible news. Some have been chastizing her for the booze and drugs but the reality is Whitney had a life that nobody would want.

People just do not understand spousal abuse until they are actually involved. I confess that I used to be the same as many others. My initial reaction was always "get the hell out of the relationship" but then a family member was caught up in mental abuse and we learned that leaving is not as easy as it seems.

Whitney you will definitely always be remembered by me for your good and not the bad.

I feel much so pains seeing people die of what I call conscious stupidity, these are people who younger generations look up to as role models and father, mother, brother or sister figure, however these people never know how so lucky they are, how very privileged they’d been, with all the fames, societal-recognitions and millions, these people never sit down to think how they could be instrumental by influencing - to being useful to their families, neighbors, friends, co-workers and employees.
America or Europe could be one of the best places to live of which I have my reservations about though, as most extremely privileged citizens of these countries never had an iota of what it means to be really happy and fulfilled. While there’re millions elsewhere on this same planet living on less that $1 US dollars a day, while in the US and Europe, people commits suicide for very known causative stupid things like drug usage. Elsewhere in Africa for example where I was educated and brought up to traditionally and culturally know the differences between Rights from Wrongs, people still live very happily as if they’ve got all the gold’s and diamond’s on the planet - “except in African countries where western greed brought them Wars and famines” –
Yet, in America some very fortunate people think using drugs is the gateway to happiness, they’ve got it all, and the very best way to be happy is using drugs, cocaine, amphetamine, alcohol and other stimulants.
I see these people as being the most stupid people in the world, a poor street beggar is far more intelligent than these type of unknowingly very fortunate people.
If you find yourself in these category, please endeavor to take a trip to the much taunted third world countries, where a whole family lives on less that US $500 US dollars a month, and yet, they’re extremely very happy and content with what they have, how they live, what they eat, the friends they have, and the environment in which they live, compared to your very modern privileged environment in the US or Europe, with all the modern technologies and even your government at your becks and calls.
Drugs has got one end result, it’s slow and painful untimely death, others will spend your money, others will take your wife or husbands, your children will be left without sincere fatherly or motherly care and directions, your properties which you’ve worked so hard for will be mismanaged and ruined by others who cared less how much you’d worked to achieved all those, why, because you were so stupid to have taken to drugs thinking that’s the best way to be happy, party and merry.
My advice for the likes of Whitney’s, Emmy’s , and the Jackson’s to mention but a few Is, if indeed you feel within you, you’re not fulfilled, privileged, very unhappy, needs wild parting, please take a trip to some other countries around the world, and observe how those people without all you have, are still much more happy and fulfilled, compared to your in-satisfaction, now you decide if you’re indeed blessed or cursed by whoever you believed is your creator, religion of which I don’t want to go into can be very determinant and helpful too in this situation, but a society without culture and tradition and yet hyping on the liberty of everything, of which according to the law of nature, there’s limitation to everything, even the food we eat- America most especially should indeed be ready to face the reality of the greatest risk of freedom & Liberty of almost everything vis a vis counting drug usages as a gate-way to personal fulfillment, happiness and eternal satisfaction, Drug is all about killing yourself softly till your systems crashes, and you die consciously stupidly.

R.I.P Whitney Houston.

It is such a shame that this beautiful, talented woman could not get the support and help from those around her to prevent her premature death. We are all to blame - her family, her managers, her fans, the media, the celebrity industry itself. As a self-admited long time drug user, she needed a serious intervention. It's touching that everyone is reaching out now, but it is too little, too late. RIP Whitney.

She had such a magnifecent control of her voice, such a tragedy she was not able to control her life.
RIP Sweet Child

heavy heart today. I wish she could have found happiness, and lived a long peacefull life. Sad day.

DazedandAmazed....she could not have been murdered since her hair stylist and two bodyguards were in her room whilst she was getting ready for the Clive Davis party. If she suffered a heart attack or stroke while in the bath tub, then YES, her body would sink into the tub and her face would be submerged in the water. I think you must watch a lot of CSI. Let's wait for the autopsy results before becoming authors on how she died.

An amazing talent for sure ... but also a long term serious addict ... I'm not surprised she died prematurely ... most who live like this do

Miss Parton, as always, is a class act! I wasn't a huge fan of Miss Houston, but I am still saddened by the passing of such a young, incredibly talented lady! rest in Peace sweet girl!

Possibly, she could have passed out and fallen into the water, or suffered a heart attack, but failing those causes, sounds like she was murdered, or the victim of manslaughter - not a natural position in which to be found. The ability to hold one's own face underwater (as one approaches a point where death is imminent) would require an act of superhuman willpower.

Possible, I suppose, but I have my doubts.

When someone with so much talent that touches the hearts of so many on a global scale..their death leaves much sadness and questions of why.

R.I.P Whitney, the Greatest Voice ever heard.
We will always love YOU.

I think Barbra Streisand nailed it in her tweet. "She had everything, beauty, a magnificent voice. How sad her gifts could not bring her the same happiness they brought us." A very sad life for an undeniable talent. Hopefully Whitney is at peace now.
