Things are looking up all over for Scotty McCreery these days...but it's not like the kid's laying around just letting it all happen.  Scotty is one of the hardest working guys in the music biz at the moment with irons in a number of fires.

He's rolling across the country with Brad Paisley on the former Camobunga now Virtual Reality tour (I still like Camobunga better ;) The acceptance letters are starting to roll in for college and, now, he's getting the chance to try out his acting chops on television!...

...He won't have to stretch that much (read: at all) for his first acting gig though.  He will play...wait for it..."Scotty McCreery" on the hit CW show, Hart of Dixie.  He doesn't even have to be in a Glee club and pretend he sings soprano or something.  Nope, just has to be himself and sing his own hit, "The Trouble With Girls" on the episode. Good way to ease into the acting world, I'd say.  Also, I would imagine that it's a bit of a bonus to get innitiated along-side the likes of Hart of Dixie star, Rachel Bilson (something tells me he would have no trouble with [hanging out with] that girl! ;)  Scotty's episode of Hart of Dixie is set to air on April 23.

As for the aforementioned college acceptance letters...Scotty, currently finishing his senior year of high school at Garner High in Garner, North Carolina, received his first from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and he is still waiting to hear back from Belmont, Tennessee State, and North Carolina State.

Good luck with the whole shebang Scotty! We'll be watching for you with our fingers crossed that you get exactly what you are hoping for.

Scotty is a good singer and a likable funny young man but that is no excuse for the way the American Idol execs paved the way for him to win. If they had just left well enough alone he may have won on his own merrit, he is one of the finalists who actually deserved to be there but last season's behind the scenes shenanigans tarnished the show permanently. Fox execs and Randy Jackson felt that a better finale would be the two teenage country stars. They know they get a lot of votes and ratings from their Bible Belt viewers so they deliberately sabotagued Haley to get her off the show. They might have got away with it if Randy Jackson knew the meaning of the word subtlety.

Good for him ! He is great.
